This is the concept art I created for an animated short film project I hope to pursue someday. The film is based on the song "The Blanket of Night" by British rock band Elbow. The story of the song, which would also be the story explored by this film, follows the journey of a couple escaping their war-torn country and seeking refuge in a safer place via boat.
In order to pursue making this film, I would have to get the rights to the song, which might be more costly than I can afford. Additionally, I would have to wait until I am out of college, since attempting to make this into a school project would require me to finish it within one semester instead of taking the necessary time to make the film the best it could be. For these reasons, I might never be able to make this film, so this art remains as simply fan art for the song, which is one of my favorites.
